The
winners of the Fifth Annual Horizon Foundation
Awards recently have been announced. Honorees
include Robert M. Duggan, co-founder and
president of Tai Sophia Institute who was
awarded the Richard G. McCauley Leadership
Award, Howard Community College recipients of
the received the Health Education Award,
Leadership U, recipients of the Connections
Asset Development Award and Margaret "Peg"
Browning, who received the Community
Appreciation Award.

representative of the community at

month we're featuring Steve Sachs. Sachs moved
to Howard County in 1973 to work for the Rouse
Company, where his commitment to the County and
its community-based organizations was fostered,
and continues today. Expressing a duty to
invest in social capital, Sachs says, "Writing
a check is the
easiest thing I do. Giving your time and
talents is the hardest and most
rewarding thing."
