The Affordable Care Act expanded health care coverage to 20,000 people in Howard County. Today, Henry Posko, Horizon Board chair, Yvette Oquendo, Horizon Board member, and Nikki Highsmith Vernick, Horizon President and CEO joined Senator Ben Cardin, Senator Chris Van Hollen, and Congressman Elijah Cummings to protect access to affordable health care for our residents.
The Horizon Foundation strongly opposes any federal attempt to take away health care for our most vulnerable residents, including low-income residents, people needing mental health and substance abuse services, and older Americans. Based on estimates from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, most of our residents would lose coverage under the current bill being considered by the U.S. House of Representatives.
