The Horizon Foundation is pleased to host its first Equity Summit, a special event that will bring together community leaders and members to highlight health disparities and barriers, learn tools to address those barriers and begin developing an approach to advance racial equity in health in Howard County. Discussions and presentations will be facilitated by national equity experts with ABFE.
The half-day event will feature a closing keynote by acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates. Coates is a distinguished writer in residence at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. He is the author of the bestselling books The Beautiful Struggle, We Were Eight Years in Power, and Between The World And Me, which won the National Book Award in 2015. Ta-Nehisi is a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship. He is also the current author of the Marvel comics The Black Panther and Captain America.
This event is free, but space is very limited. At this time, we are accepting requests to attend the Summit. Please submit your request by Oct. 18, 2018. We will notify you if your registration request has been approved by Oct. 22, 2018. Priority will be given to those who live or work in Howard County and intend to engage in racial equity work in the county.
