Thank you for your ongoing support for complete streets in Howard County. The lead organization for these issues is being passed to Bicycling Advocates of Howard County (Bike HoCo). As the Streets for All website and listserv will no longer be active, to stay in the loop about complete streets in Howard County and to get involved, subscribe to the Bike HoCo listserv and follow their Facebook page for updates.
Over the last 8 years, we have seen incredible progress: from advocating for the Bikeway, to hosting Open Streets events and walk audits, to seeing record levels of funding for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects in the county budget year after year, to a new Design Manual that prioritizes all users of the road in future planning, to Howard County’s national recognition as a model for implementing complete streets. We have much to be proud of.
As many of you know, the Horizon Foundation recently launched a new strategic plan that includes several new focus areas. Though the Foundation will continue to advocate for complete streets projects in our community, especially in historically underinvested areas, Bike HoCo will be the primary leader of these efforts moving forward.
Bike HoCo has been a strong voice in the Streets for All Coalition and a tireless advocate for complete streets in Howard County for many years. Sign up for their email list here to to stay up to date on complete streets in our community as well as to make your voice heard about bike and pedestrian infrastructure projects.
Though we have seen much progress in recent years, we still need your help! Everyone in Howard County – no matter who they are or where they live – should be able to safely, easily and comfortably bike, walk or take public transportation anywhere they need to go. Plenty of work remains to make this vision a reality across our community. Please continue to make your voice heard during the county budget process (in progress now for FY 2026!) and other public meetings about complete streets projects.
