There are several nationally recognized, evidence-based mental health trainings available through Grassroots Crisis Intervention and Howard County General Hospital that are free to Howard County residents and people who work in Howard County.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a national two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid that teaches how to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide, and how to create a plan for their immediate safety.

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid provides training on a five-step action plan to offer initial help to people with the signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in a crisis, and tools on how to connect them with the appropriate care.
