Last week, we delivered the comments of nearly 600 people and support letters from major community organizations urging County Executive Allan Kittleman to fund the Bikeway as the first strategic and significant investment in building out the county’s Bike Master Plan.
Read the Howard County Times: “Bicyclists seek county funding for ‘Bikeway’ network during first Howard budget hearing.”
In addition to the Horizon Foundation, organizations and businesses endorsing the Bikeway request include: Bicycling Advocates of Howard County, Columbia Association, Howard County Chamber of Commerce, Howard County General Hospital, Howard Hughes Corporation, Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition, the county’s Public Transportation Board and Environmental Sustainability Board, Princeton Sports, Race Pace Bicycles, The Cycle Mill, the Earth Forum of Howard County and Transition Howard County.
Many speakers testified in support of the Bikeway at the hearing: Milton Matthews, CEO of the Columbia Association; Jack Guarneri, President of the Bicycling Advocates; Larry Schoen of Cycle2Health and the Public Transportation Board; Paul Cavalieri of Race Pace Bicycles; the Cropper family; Kevin McAliley, Chair of the Wilde Lake Village Board; and Nikki Highsmith Vernick, President and CEO of the Horizon Foundation.
