Communications as community building
Earlier this month, our communications team, Cat Harmon and Kerry Darragh, flew off to Kansas City to join ComNet24, the annual nationwide conference for communications professionals working on issues for social change. Besides eating some delicious barbecue, Cat and Kerry heard from many inspiring speakers about how communications can help build community. Check out this month’s blog to learn more.
HCPSS Taste Test Night: November 14
Help us make school food better! Come taste and rate food currently being served on the menu in Howard County schools and rank potential NEW menu items. Your vote matters! Registration is not required but appreciated so we can make sure that we have enough food for everyone. Join us, along with members of our Healthier Choices Coalition and HCPSS, on November 14 in the Guilford Park High School cafeteria from 6-7 p.m. to make your voice heard. We hope to see you there!
The Latest on our Grant RFPS
Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply for our most recent grant opportunities on Housing Justice and our Advancing Community Advocacy fellowship. We received so many incredible applications and we are so excited for our future work to co-create solutions together. We are preparing for the interview process and will be notifying selected grantees later in November. We can’t wait to kick off our new grantee experience in the new year! More to come.
Reminder: First Thursday CANCELED FOR NOVEMBER
Thank you to all who have been participating in our First Thursdays community conversations. Please note we will NOT be convening in the month of November.
It is deeply rewarding to connect with so many of you about health equity issues facing our community. First Thursdays will be back in early December to close out this year that has been full of rich community discussions.
If you have any questions about participating in First Thursdays, contact our Policy & Community Engagement Director, Jennifer Holland.
